Terms of Use — Automation World UK

Last updated: 14/10/2026

1. About this website

Automation World UK (“Automation World”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates the website at automationworld.co (the “Site”).

The Site provides a directory of industrial automation suppliers, a Project Matcher, application guides, technical and educational content, calculators, an events calendar and related services for people researching industrial automation.

The Site is operated by Automation World UK. You can contact us at [email protected].

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Site. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the Site.

Different or additional terms may apply to specific paid services or other arrangements where we expressly provide them to you.

2. The supplier directory

2.1 Directory information

The directory contains information about industrial automation suppliers, including systems integrators, manufacturers and other relevant businesses.

Listings may be compiled from information supplied by businesses, publicly available sources, our own research and other sources we consider relevant.

We aim to make the directory useful and accurate, but information may be incomplete, out of date or incorrect. Supplier capabilities, locations, services, certifications, contact details and commercial circumstances can change.

We do not guarantee that every supplier is included, that all relevant suppliers are listed, or that every listing reflects a supplier’s current capabilities or availability.

2.2 Unclaimed and claimed listings

Some listings are created by Automation World before the relevant business has claimed or confirmed them. A listing appearing on the Site does not necessarily mean the business has reviewed, approved or authorised every detail displayed.

A business may be able to claim its listing and submit updates, subject to our claim and verification procedures.

Anyone claiming or managing a listing must be authorised to act on behalf of the relevant business. We may request evidence of that authority and may reject, suspend or reverse a claim if we reasonably believe it is unauthorised, disputed or inaccurate.

We may correct, update, combine, suspend or remove a listing where reasonably necessary, including where information is inaccurate, a business has ceased trading, a listing is duplicated, a claim is disputed or legal rights may be affected.

2.3 Listing status and verification

Listing labels, including Basic, Claimed, Premium and Platinum, describe the status or features of a listing under the applicable directory arrangements.

A claimed listing generally indicates that a business has claimed or manages its profile. A paid listing indicates participation in a paid service. Neither status, by itself, establishes that we have independently verified the supplier’s technical capabilities, certifications, financial position, safety record or quality of work.

Where we use a verification label, we will describe the scope of the relevant verification where appropriate. Verification of a particular detail should not be interpreted as a guarantee of the supplier’s overall suitability or performance.

2.4 No endorsement or guarantee

A listing does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation or guarantee by Automation World of a supplier, its products, services, competence, reliability or financial standing.

We do not guarantee that a listed business will respond to an enquiry, accept a project, meet a particular specification or deliver a particular result.

2.5 Your responsibility when choosing a supplier

You are responsible for evaluating suppliers before engaging them. This may include checking relevant experience, references, insurance, certifications, technical capabilities, financial standing, health and safety arrangements, regulatory compliance and contractual terms.

You should obtain and assess suitable proposals, specifications and quotations before making a purchasing or investment decision.

The fact that a supplier appears in the directory, has a claimed profile or holds a paid listing does not remove the need for your own due diligence.

3. The Project Matcher

3.1 Purpose of the Matcher

The Project Matcher is designed to help users identify automation technologies and suppliers that may be relevant to their stated requirements.

It uses answers provided by the user and information available in the directory to generate a shortlist and, where applicable, rank potential suppliers using defined matching criteria.

The Matcher is an initial research and discovery tool. It is not a substitute for a technical feasibility study, professional procurement advice, a site survey or a supplier’s detailed proposal.

3.2 Matching results and rankings

Results depend on the information you provide, the information available about suppliers and the criteria used by the Matcher at the time.

A supplier’s position in a shortlist represents its relative match against those criteria. It is not a definitive assessment of overall supplier quality, technical competence, financial stability or suitability for every aspect of your project.

The Matcher may not identify every potentially suitable supplier. A supplier that does not appear in your shortlist may still be able to undertake your project.

We do not guarantee that a shortlisted supplier will have available capacity, accept your project, meet your budget, achieve a particular performance level or deliver your project within a particular timescale.

3.3 Project information and introductions

You should ensure that the information you provide through the Matcher is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you are authorised to share it.

Do not submit trade secrets, confidential technical information, personal information about other individuals or other sensitive material unless you are authorised to do so and it is reasonably necessary for the purpose.

You can review your shortlist before deciding whether to request an introduction, in accordance with the functionality available at the time.

Where you choose to be introduced to particular suppliers, you authorise us to share the project information reasonably necessary to arrange those introductions with the suppliers you select.

We will handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the choices presented to you through the relevant form. Any optional marketing consent is separate from the sharing of project information needed to fulfil an introduction request.

We do not intend to send your project details to suppliers you have not selected for an introduction unless you separately authorise this or another lawful basis applies.

3.4 Supplier contact and follow-up

After an introduction, a selected supplier may contact you about the project using the contact details you provide.

Automation World may also contact you about your Matcher submission, the operation of the service or relevant follow-up, in accordance with the Privacy Policy and any preferences or consents you have given.

Any optional marketing communications will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the consent or other lawful basis relied upon for those communications.

3.5 No agency or responsibility for the project

Automation World acts as a directory and introduction service. Unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing, we do not act as your procurement agent, engineering consultant, project manager, system integrator or representative.

We are not a party to contracts between users and suppliers. Any subsequent discussions, quotations, negotiations, purchases, installations, warranties and service arrangements are between the relevant parties.

We are not responsible for a supplier’s acts or omissions, the terms of its quotation, its performance, its compliance with applicable requirements or the outcome of a project. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

3.6 Fees

Use of the Project Matcher and standard supplier introductions are currently free to buyers.

We will clearly communicate any charge for a future service before you commit to it.

4. Calculators, selectors and interactive tools

The Site may include calculators, selectors, assessment tools and other interactive resources, including tools designed to estimate return on investment, cycle time, system suitability or potential automation costs.

These tools use information entered by users and assumptions or calculation methods incorporated into the relevant tool.

Their outputs are indicative estimates only. They are not guaranteed results, quotations, financial advice, engineering designs or professional recommendations.

Actual performance, cost, payback and implementation times can vary significantly depending on the application, equipment, site conditions, labour arrangements, production requirements, integration scope, safety measures, commissioning, maintenance and other factors.

You should independently validate material assumptions and obtain appropriate professional advice before making significant investment, engineering or operational decisions.

You are responsible for checking the inputs you enter and assessing whether the outputs are appropriate for your circumstances.

5. Guides, technical content and events

5.1 General information

The Site publishes guides, articles, glossaries, supplier information, industry commentary and other material relating to industrial automation.

This material is provided for general informational and educational purposes. It is not a substitute for project-specific engineering advice, a risk assessment, a formal specification, a quotation or professional advice appropriate to your circumstances.

5.2 Costs, performance and lead times

Published cost ranges, cycle rates, capacity figures, payback periods, installation times and other technical or commercial estimates are indicative unless expressly stated otherwise.

Actual results depend on the equipment, application, operating environment, integration requirements, supplier, project scope and other circumstances.

You should confirm material specifications, assumptions, costs, lead times and performance claims directly with the relevant supplier before relying on them.

Nothing in this section is intended to excuse misleading statements or remove any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

5.3 Events and third-party information

The events calendar may contain details of exhibitions, conferences, open days, seminars and other industry events. Dates, venues, prices, exhibitors, agendas and attendance arrangements may change.

We make reasonable efforts to maintain relevant information, but we do not organise or control third-party events unless expressly stated.

You should confirm event details, registration requirements, availability and any applicable fees with the event organiser before making arrangements.

6. Supplier submissions and intellectual property

6.1 Responsibility for submitted material

If you submit or upload material to the Site on behalf of a supplier or another business, you confirm that:

  • You are authorised to submit the material and to act on behalf of the relevant business where applicable.
  • The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge and is not deliberately misleading.
  • You have the necessary rights or permissions to provide any text, photographs, logos, trademarks, videos, case studies or other material.
  • Your submission does not unlawfully infringe another person’s intellectual property, confidentiality, privacy or other rights.
  • Your submission does not contain unlawful, defamatory, malicious or otherwise prohibited material.

You remain responsible for the material you submit.

6.2 Licence to use submitted material

You retain ownership of material you submit, subject to the rights of any third parties.

By submitting material to Automation World, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, display, format, edit for presentation, distribute and promote that material for the purposes of operating, maintaining and promoting the Site and its directory services.

This licence permits reasonable changes to formatting, layout, length and presentation, provided we do not deliberately misrepresent the substance of the material.

We may use supplier names, logos and submitted promotional material to identify and display the relevant business within the directory and in related promotional material connected with the Site.

You must have the rights needed to grant this licence. If you do not, you must not submit the material.

The licence continues for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain relevant records or deal with legal obligations and disputes. Following removal of a listing or material, copies may remain temporarily in backups, archives or materials already distributed, subject to applicable law and our retention practices.

6.3 Site content

Unless otherwise indicated, the original text, design, graphics, software and other content created for the Site are owned by or licensed to Automation World.

Supplier names, logos, trademarks and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance on the Site does not transfer ownership to Automation World.

You may access and use the Site for lawful personal or business research. You must not reproduce, republish, distribute or commercially exploit substantial parts of the Site’s content without our prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms restricts rights that applicable law does not allow us to restrict.

6.4 Requests concerning submitted material

If you believe material on the Site infringes your rights or is materially inaccurate, please contact us at [email protected] with sufficient information to identify the material and explain your concern.

We may investigate, request further information, amend or remove the material, or take other reasonable action.

7. Paid listings, subscriptions and sponsorships

7.1 Paid services

Automation World may offer paid supplier listings, enhanced profiles, promotional placements, sponsorships or other commercial services.

The applicable price, billing frequency, duration, features, deliverables and any specific service conditions will be communicated separately before a supplier commits to a paid service.

Where separate supplier terms, an order confirmation or other written agreement applies, those terms will govern the relevant paid service alongside these Terms. If there is a conflict, the specific paid-service terms will take precedence for that service to the extent of the conflict.

7.2 Listing features and commercial outcomes

Paid listing tiers may provide additional profile features, presentation options, promotional opportunities or other benefits described in the relevant offer.

Unless expressly agreed in writing, payment does not guarantee a particular volume of traffic, enquiries, leads, introductions, sales, search-engine rankings or commercial results.

We may update the design, layout and general functionality of the Site as it develops. We will deal fairly with any specific paid features or deliverables already agreed with a supplier.

7.3 Sponsorship and advertising

The Site may display sponsored placements, advertising, commercial partnerships or sponsored content.

Where appropriate, these will be identified as sponsored or advertising material so users can distinguish them from ordinary editorial content and directory information.

Paid placement does not, by itself, mean that a supplier is endorsed by Automation World or that its products or services are objectively superior to those of other suppliers.

Payment for advertising or a listing does not automatically determine a supplier’s suitability score or ranking in the Project Matcher. Any specific promotional arrangement will be described separately where relevant.

7.4 Payment, renewal and cancellation

Payment obligations, subscription periods, renewal arrangements, cancellation procedures, notice periods and refund terms will be set out in the applicable paid-service offer or agreement.

Suppliers should review those details before committing. No cancellation period, refund entitlement or renewal arrangement should be assumed unless it is stated in the applicable terms or required by law.

Nothing in this section removes any statutory rights that apply to the relevant transaction.

8. Accuracy, availability and changes to the Site

We aim to operate a useful and reliable service, but we do not guarantee that the Site, its content or any individual feature will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, complete or free from errors.

We may update, suspend, restrict or discontinue all or part of the Site where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, operational, legal or business reasons.

Where practicable, we will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption to users.

We may correct errors, update information, change the directory structure, modify matching criteria or improve interactive tools as the service develops.

We do not guarantee that content will remain unchanged or that every feature will continue indefinitely. Where a change affects a specific paid service, the applicable paid-service terms will also apply.

9. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Site lawfully and responsibly.

You must not:

  • Use the Site for unlawful, fraudulent or deceptive purposes.
  • Submit information you know to be false or misleading, impersonate another person or business, or claim a supplier listing without appropriate authority.
  • Upload or transmit material that infringes another person’s intellectual property, confidentiality, privacy or other rights.
  • Use the Site to send spam, conduct unauthorised bulk marketing or harvest personal contact details for unsolicited communications.
  • Scrape, extract, reproduce or systematically collect substantial directory information by automated means without our permission, except where permitted by law.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its accounts, systems, databases or infrastructure.
  • Introduce malware, malicious code or other material intended to disrupt or compromise the Site.
  • Interfere with the Site’s operation, security or availability, including by placing unreasonable demands on its systems.
  • Circumvent access restrictions or misuse forms, accounts, matching tools or other functionality.
  • Use the Site in a way that could reasonably expose Automation World or its users to legal, security or operational harm.

We may investigate suspected misuse and take reasonable action, including rejecting submissions, correcting or removing content, suspending access, disabling a claim or contacting relevant authorities where appropriate.

We will consider the circumstances and any applicable legal obligations when deciding what action to take.

10. Third-party websites and services

The Site may link to supplier websites, event organisers, external resources and other third-party services.

These links are provided for convenience and information. We do not control third-party websites and, unless expressly stated otherwise, are not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, products or services.

A link does not necessarily constitute an endorsement or recommendation.

Your use of a third-party website or service is subject to its own applicable terms and policies. You should review those terms before providing information, making payments or entering into an arrangement.

11. Privacy and cookies

Our handling of personal information is described in the Automation World UK Privacy Policy, available through the Site.

The Privacy Policy explains, among other things, what personal information we collect, how we use it, when information may be shared, how long it may be retained and how individuals can exercise their applicable rights.

Our use of cookies and similar technologies is explained through the Site’s cookie or consent controls and any relevant privacy information.

These Terms should be read alongside the Privacy Policy, but they do not replace any privacy notice or consent required by applicable law.

Where you submit personal information through the directory, Matcher or another form, you should ensure that you are authorised to provide it. Please do not submit another person’s personal information unless you have an appropriate reason and lawful basis to do so.

12. Suspension and termination

We may restrict, suspend or terminate access to particular features, accounts, claims or paid services where reasonably necessary, including where:

  • These Terms or applicable paid-service terms have been materially breached.
  • We reasonably suspect fraud, unauthorised access, impersonation or misuse.
  • A listing or submission creates a material legal, security or reputational risk.
  • We are required to do so by law or a competent authority.
  • A service is discontinued or materially changed.

Where reasonably practicable, we will provide an explanation and an opportunity to resolve the issue, unless doing so would be inappropriate or unlawful.

Suspension or removal of a listing does not automatically cancel any separate payment obligations or determine any refund entitlement. Those matters will be handled under the applicable paid-service terms and applicable law.

13. Limitation of liability

13.1 Nothing excluded unlawfully

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Nothing in these Terms removes statutory rights or protections that apply to you.

13.2 Use of the Site

To the extent permitted by law, we do not accept responsibility for losses arising solely from your reliance on general directory information, Matcher results, calculator outputs, technical guides or other informational content without appropriate independent checks.

We do not guarantee that a supplier will be suitable, available, financially sound or able to complete a project successfully.

You remain responsible for evaluating information and obtaining appropriate professional advice before making material commercial, financial, engineering or procurement decisions.

13.3 Third-party suppliers and projects

Automation World is not responsible for contracts, quotations, installations, warranties, technical performance, safety arrangements or other dealings between users and suppliers, except to the extent that liability arises from our own acts or omissions and cannot lawfully be excluded.

Any agreement for equipment, integration, installation, maintenance or other services is between the relevant parties.

13.4 Excluded losses

To the extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, anticipated savings, business opportunities, contracts, goodwill or data, where those losses are legally excludable.

This clause does not exclude liability for losses that cannot lawfully be excluded, or override any more specific written agreement that applies to a paid service.

13.5 Overall limitation

Any financial cap on our liability must be reasonable and enforceable in the circumstances and must not apply to liabilities that cannot legally be capped.

The amount and scope of any applicable cap will be subject to the law governing the relevant claim and any specific paid-service agreement. No cap should be interpreted as removing a statutory right or protection that applies to you.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms to reflect changes to the Site, our services, applicable law or our business arrangements.

The latest version will be published on this page with its updated date.

Where a change materially affects an existing paid service or an ongoing contractual arrangement, we will handle the change in accordance with the applicable agreement and legal requirements.

Your continued use of the Site after revised Terms are published will not, by itself, override any legal requirement for express acceptance or any rights you may have under an existing contract.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Subject to any mandatory legal rules that apply to a particular user or claim, the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or use of the Site.

Nothing in this section prevents a party from relying on mandatory rights or protections available under applicable law.

16. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, wish to correct or dispute a supplier listing, or believe material on the Site infringes your rights, please contact:
